Adjunct Instructor - Adult Education, Fresh Start Program

Atlanta Technical College


Atlanta Technical College seeks adjunct reading and language instructors for our Fresh Start Program, a free refresher course (utilizing the Accuplacer Curriculum) offered by the Adult Education division. Eligible students are those who have been accepted but not yet enrolled in a credit-bearing program at Atlanta Technical College. The candidate will arrive as scheduled daily; Under general supervision of the Associate Vice President of Adult Education; the Adult Education Instructor prepares Student Education Plans (SEP’s) and lesson plans for classroom instruction; obtains or prepares instructional materials for classroom use; Provides learner guidance to students; Evaluates students’ ongoing progress and performance in attaining goals and objectives; Promotes the adult education program to public and private organizations through the Service Delivery Area of the college; Participates in EAGLE competition; Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports; Plans, organizes and participates in staff development and team conferences; Maintains a secure classroom environment; Demonstrate teamwork, customer service and organizational commitment; Possesses strong skills in written and oral communication and in the facilitation of group efforts. Performs other duties as requested.



Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, psychology, counseling, sociology, or related disciplines. One-year experience in adult education. Completion of subject matter assessment. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficiency in the use of programs in the Microsoft Office Suite. Unofficial Transcript(s) must be provided at the time of the interview. Official Transcript(s) required within 30 days of employment.



Master’s degree in education-related discipline from an accredited college or university.  A minimum of 2 years (within the past five years) of full-time paid work experience in higher education with at least one year of classroom teaching experience.  Proficiency in the use of programs in the Microsoft Office Suite, and GALIS.



Monday-Thursday 9:00 am – 1:00 pm - 19 hours per week; May be required to teach at other locations and other locations within the community.
