CJCC Job Title: Victim's Compensation Intake Specialist

  Salary $ 35,000 (Commensurate with education and experience)

Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) is administratively attached to GBI. CJCC is legislatively charged with      eleven areas of criminal justice coordination. Among those responsibilities is to serve as the statewide clearinghouse for criminal justice information & research; Develop criminal justice legislative & executive policy proposals; & serve in an advisory capacity to the Governor on issues impacting the criminal justice system. CJCC plans & administers tens millions of dollars in federal criminal justice and victim services grants

Description

Under general supervision, the Victims Compensation Intake Specialist, provides benefit eligibility services to claimants & victims of violent crimes (e.g., Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Homicide) according to applicable policies and procedures, state, and federal laws. Ensures equitable and appropriate resolution of claims. May develop and provide training.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Processes all program applications and relevant documents
  • Compiles and enters all relevant data
  • Prepares and distributes billing/claims requests, bank deposits or reports related to Crime Victim’s
  • Completes and mails bills, invoices, checks and other financial or budget documents
  • Copies, distributes, receives and / or mails letters, bills, memos, statements of account, and other documents and materials
  • Maintains files and records
  • Enters routine financial transactions into VCD systems of files
  • May make routine determinations of client ability to pay, review documents to compute fees or charges due, accept payments from customers, and/or apply payments to existing accounts
  • Review and analyze claim applications and relevant documents by applicants for the Crime Victims Compensation Program
  • Operates computers programmed with VCD software to record, store, and analyze information
  • Performs billing functions, balances receipt and reconciles routine accounting records, such as batch reports, bank statements, payroll documents, agency generated reports and / or related records
  • Reviews files, records, and other documents to obtain information to respond to requests
  • Verifies and corrects financial information in area of assignment
Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university AND Two years of experience involving customer contact and/or interaction OR Three years of experience in social services or related field.
