Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities


OVERVIEW

DBHDD operates state hospitals and provides for community-based services across the state through contracted providers. The department serves people living with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or any combination of these. As Georgia’s public safety net, our primary responsibility is to serve people who are uninsured. We also serve individuals on Medicaid and others with few resources or options.

Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Georgia Department of - DBHDD

Under direct supervision, assists technicians and laboratory scientists with data or specimen collection and laboratory procedures. Performs laboratory related housekeeping, clerical and storekeeping duties. Assists in the collection of information and/or samples, such as blood, water, soil, plants, food, and animals. Cleans, maintains, and prepares supplies and work areas. May assist with laboratory procedures under appropriate supervision. Prepares samples or specimens for testing. Receives and logs samples into laboratory information systems. Sets up, cleans, and maintains laboratory and field equipment. Sets up, operates, and maintains laboratory instruments and equipment. Uses computers, computer-interfaced equipment, robotics and high technology industrial applications to perform work duties.
