The State of Georgia places a high value on making a positive impact within our communities. In the spirit of giving, we'd like to spotlight two significant initiatives that support our employees in their charitable endeavors: Education Support Leave and the Georgia State Charitable Contributions Program.
1. Education Support Leave: Empowering Our Employees
Through our Education Support Leave program, employees can volunteer in educational institutions and programs in Georgia without using their annual leave. Each year, employees can utilize up to 8 hours of paid leave for activities such as mentoring, tutoring, or assisting with school events. This program empowers our employees to create a meaningful impact in the lives of students and educators.
2. Georgia State Charitable Contributions Program: Giving Back with Dollars and Sense
Our Charitable Contributions Program allows employees to contribute to charitable organizations through automatic payroll deductions. This annual campaign runs from September 16th through November 16th, 2023, and enables state and University System employees to provide monetary support to qualified charitable organizations. These organizations encompass religious, educational, scientific, literary, and charities focused on public safety, amateur sports competitions, and preventing cruelty to children or animals, and more. State employees can select a cause, establish payroll deductions, and genuinely influence organizations that matter to them. It's a simple, convenient, and effective method employees can use to give back.
