Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities


OVERVIEW

DBHDD operates state hospitals and provides for community-based services across the state through contracted providers. The department serves people living with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or any combination of these. As Georgia’s public safety net, our primary responsibility is to serve people who are uninsured. We also serve individuals on Medicaid and others with few resources or options.

Outreach Coordinator - State Based Exchange

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner, Office of - OCI

Under broad supervision, the Outreach Coordinator plans, develops and implements an outreach program for Georgia's State Based Exchange.

May assist in the managing of projects/campaigns and program plans for social or community outreach.

Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision. 

Serves as job expert or organization resource in assigned areas.

Participates in the development of conferences, instructive seminars, presentations and speeches for community and civic organizations and the general public.

As part of a team participates in the outlining of advertising strategies.

Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with area business community, internal and external agency customers, and other related contacts.

Identifies main client groups and audiences and determine the best way to communicate.

Identifies, develops, and evaluates communication strategy based on characteristics, cost and markup factors.

May produce and distribute informational material in a variety of media.

Serves as a resource in the development and implementation of outreach communication.

Some travel required.

Performs other duties assigned.

Bachelor's degree in communications or a related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of communications or related experience OR Five years of communications or related experience OR One year of experience required at the lower level Communications Spec 2 (GSP041) or position equivalent.
