Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Adjunct Instructor (Aviation) position in the Academic and Student Affairs division, Industrial & Transportation Technologies department.  This position is located on Atlanta Technical College’s main campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta.    

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Adjunct Instructor (Aviation) provides professional instruction to students based on an approved course syllabus; and ensures that desired course outcomes meet the stated objectives, as well as prepares curriculum and syllabus for coursework taught.

 

Duties and responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of current procedures in the Aviation field.
  • Knowledgeable about and committed to adhering to FAA regulations governing Part 147 schools.
  • Display willingness to receive input and undergo internal review of processes and procedures used in the classroom.
  • Must be able to multitask and respond to deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to use appropriate teaching techniques to engage groups of students in different activities simultaneously.
  • Must be able to apply appropriate testing and grading procedures, including proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping tools.
  • Must have effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to monitor students' use of supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Must be able to advise and counsel students and maintain appropriate advisement records on each student.
  • Attend meetings as required and appropriate.
  • Observe and enforce the institution's policies and regulations.
  • Observe and enforce FAA compliance requirements for approved programs.
  • Assist with student recruitment and job placement as requested by supervisor.
  • Serve on committees as requested by supervisors.
  • Maintain professional qualifications as appropriate for the field and as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual.
  • Follow rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual and other policies and procedures established by the institution.
  • Performs additional duties, as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Must possess and demonstrate an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university AND one (1) or more years of related work experience in an educational setting or a business setting.  Must also be A & P certified and have 1-3 years of experience as an A & P mechanic.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference may be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements, possess and demonstrate the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university AND three (3) or more years of related work experience
  • Two (2) or more years teaching in an educational setting.
  • Ability to think quickly and independently.
  • Ability to consistently provide excellent customer service.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as technological skills.
  • Experience with BANNER student information system.
