The Georgia Department of Defense is seeking a technically proficient, analytical professional to serve as the Electronic Security Systems (ESS) Technician for the Georgia Army National Guard.   The ESS Technician’s assignments will consist of implementation of regulations and standardized methods of operation as received from the National Guard Bureau Physical Security Regulations and Directives. Work is checked for progress and conformance to establish policies and requirements thru reports and/or conferences.   
 
The ESS Technician will be expected to analyze many highly diverse and complex situations, weigh out the pros and cons of every alternative or course of action, and make decisions that solve the problems both in short term and long term.  The position requires the incumbent to maintain appropriate security clearances and all ESS staff must be certified by the National Guard Bureau in Electronic Security for state maintained equipment and recertified every 3 years.
 
**This position requires extensive statewide travel.**    
 
Typical responsibilities of the ESS Technician include:
 
Represents electronic security program at various construction and progress meetings.  Assists Electronic Security Manager in performance of in-progress and final construction inspections concerning the electronic security program.
 
Performs installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic security program systems/components as required.
 
Perform all procedures necessary to bend and hang electrical conduit. This includes the use of various tools such as masonry drills and conduit benders. Pull necessary wiring through conduit and correctly connect to system components. 
 
Assist, conduct, and supervise semi-annual inspection of all arms, ammunition and explosive storage areas intrusion detection systems.
 
Surveys and installs back-up cellular systems to include signal strength testing and liaison with cellular providers for cell transmitter programming.
 
Program the installed alarm control panel to properly provide the required protection to weapons vaults and secondary areas. This includes the proficient use of a portable notebook computer using menu driven as well as custom programming features. 
 
Agency Specific Qualifications and/or Preferred Qualifications: 
 
Preference will be given to those applicants whose resume gives evidence of any combination of the following:
 
Knowledge of design and construction techniques and practices as well as the ability to apply these in a broad range of activities. 
 
A general knowledge and understanding of electrical/electronics theory and application. 
 
Proficiency at reading blueprints, wire diagrams, and schematics and use of electronic test equipment to enable tracing and testing of circuits. 
 
A basic knowledge of National Electric Code and other codes and standards of the National Fire Protection Association, National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association, Underwriters Laboratories, Factory Mutual Laboratories and other nationally recognized testing laboratories in matters relating to electronic security and fire protection equipment. 
 
Able to properly interpret various state and local codes and standards.  
 
The selected applicant must meet the following standards:
 
1. Possess a valid drivers' license. 
 
2. Pass a pre-employment drug-test and will be placed in the pool for the State Random Drug Testing Program. 
 
3. Pass an extensive pre-employment background check, which includes a Georgia criminal history, as well as a post-hire federal background investigation. for a security clearance under the provisions of AR 380-5.
 
4. Eligible to work in the U.S. 
 
5. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
