Soldier and Family Readiness Specialist - Tifton

The Georgia National Guard Joint & Family Services Program is seeking a Soldier and Family Readiness Specialist (SFRS).   The position will be housed out of the Tifton Armory.

 

The Soldier and Family Readiness Specialist will be instrumental in the development and implementation of the Soldier & Family Readiness Program, serving as a conduit for information and coordination for all Family matters and commands within the region.  This position is responsible for contacting families of deployed Georgia National Guard soldiers every 30 days and enabling those families to have a “one-stop shopping” resource to help them cope with and resolve any issues encountered during mobilization, serving as a resource and referral point of contact for all military families on a continual basis.

 
Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Conducts outreach via calls, email, or in person;
  • Provides reports; inputting data into tracking program; maintaining adequate records and databases; and providing advice and assistance to family readiness groups.
  • Provides training and briefings to service members and Family Readiness Group volunteers, identifying individuals and families requiring assistance during the deployment cycle, and developing a post-deployment plan.
  • Supports the Yellow Ribbon Program staff during events as needed.
  • Mostly in-state travel will be required on a regular basis.
 

** If you are selected for an interview you will need to present a 3-5 minute briefing a topic TBD. We need to see your comfort level with delivering briefings/presentations, training and communicating with new people and this briefing/presentation will allow us to see you in action.

 

Minimum Training & Experience: Completion of a Bachelor's degree in counseling, social work, psychology or a related field from an accredited college or university.

 

NOTE: Related experience as outlined in the duties and responsibilities may substitute for education on a year for year basis.

 
Preferred Qualifications
 

In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, our preferred candidates will have technical proficiency in Microsoft Office, knowledge of military personnel family programs, deployment cycle support, and the structure of operations of the Army National Guard. Our preferred candidates will also have excellent public speaking and customer service skills and will be evaluated on competency areas such as teamwork, accountability, results orientation, and conflict management.

1. Minimum knowledge of military structure.
2. Ability to identify military family concerns.
3. Ability to develop programs and activities to address family concerns.
4. Computer skills to include proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet research.
