Eastern Judicial Circuit – Assistant Public Defender I, II, or III
The Eastern Judicial Circuit is seeking to hire an Assistant Public Defender I, II or III position, depending upon the level of experience. Primary duties will include representation of indigent criminal defendants in the Superior Court of Chatman County. Applicants must meet the qualifications and have the necessary skills to perform the job duties and responsibilities of the position. Experience in all areas of criminal defense, including having served as lead counsel in jury trials, is preferred. Applicants must have a strong commitment to indigent criminal defense.

Description of Duties: The Assistant Public Defender will provide competent and zealous representation and advocacy to indigent clients. This position performs beginning to mid-level professional legal work and may assist in cases of routine complexity. Applicants must be a current member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia. Emphasis will be placed upon candidates’ demonstrated commitment to indigent defense. Performs other related duties as required.
