JOB SUMMARY 

Savannah Technical College is seeking an Executive Assistant to the President who will provide high-level professional, administrative, and supervisory support to the President. This pivotal role ensures smooth operations within the President's office, facilitates effective communication, and supports strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, discretion, and the ability to manage a diverse array of tasks and responsibilities with a high degree of professionalism.  

MAJOR DUTIES 

  • Organizes and coordinates daily activities and efficient function of the president’s office; 
  • Provides administrative support to the president; 
  • Researches, gathers data, and prepares reports, presentations, publications, spreadsheets, tables and charts for the president’s use; 
  • Maintains filing and record keeping system for the president; 
  • Plans and coordinates events and meetings 
  • Conducts research on various topics as requested by the president, compile information into briefing documents, and prepare summaries or presentations for meetings or events. 
  • Serves as a liaison between the president and the board, other staff members, departments, external stakeholders, alumni association, and the public. Represents the president in a professional and courteous manner. 
  • Anticipates potential issues or challenges and proactively addresses them. Exercises sound judgment in handling unexpected situations and making decisions on behalf of the president when necessary. 
  • Assists with special projects or initiatives as assigned by the president, which may involve research, coordination with other departments, or implementation of new processes. 
  • Monitors use and maintains supplies, equipment and/or facilities for president’s office; and 
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs

  • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public 
  • Oral and written communication skills 
  • Ability to perform complex and varied duties 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field *OR* High school diploma or equivalent *and* Three (3) years of work-related experience
  •  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Experience working within a technical college or higher education setting. 
  • Familiarity with the administrative and operational aspects of a President's office. 
  • Knowledge of the specific needs and challenges of a technical college environment. 
  • Advanced proficiency in project management tools and software. 
  • Experience in event planning and coordination at the executive level. 
  • Strong networking and relationship-building skills with a broad range of stakeholders. 

 

Physical Demands 

Work is typically performed in an office environment with intermittent sitting, standing, and walkingThe employee frequently bends, lifts and carries lightweight objects up to 25 poundsA full range of hand and finger motion is required for data entry purposes. 

Salary/Benefits 

Salary is commensurate with education and work experienceBenefits include paid state holidays, annual and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits package.

Bachelor's degree *and* One (1) year of work related experience OR an Associate Degree in Business Administrative Technology *and Two (2) years of work related experience. Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
