Job Summary
The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE)–Division of State Schools is recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Supervisor. Under general supervision, this position will manage the maintenance department. The job responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Description of Duties
- Monitor duties include planning, scheduling, and implementing maintenance activities, supervising the maintenance, construction and operation of the heating, ventilation, air conditioning equipment (HVAC) and controls of assigned facilities
- Supervise construction, renovations, repairs and cleaning performed by contractors at department facilities
- Assist in the development of annual budgets by determining the construction, maintenance and/or repair needs of the assigned facilities
- Review blueprints and determines the location for the installation of equipment and inspects completed work
- Supervise the inventory and ordering of materials, tools, equipment and supplies needed to make repairs to the physical facilities and/or needed for general daily housekeeping maintenance
- Coordinate work orders
- Assign maintenance personnel for completion of projects; monitoring vehicle and bus maintenance
- Maintain security and fire alarm systems; maintaining vehicle fleet, lawn mowers, ground power equipment
- Ensure that all operational checks and maintenance are performed for the boiler operations
- Create and maintain a high-performance environment characterized by positive leadership and a strong team orientation
- On-call and some weekend or night duty may occur
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one of more of the following:
- Two years of experience managing maintenance staff.
- Three years of experience performing basic building maintenance to include installation, repair, and troubleshooting of the following: Metal framing, drywall, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical.
- Successful completion of a post-secondary vocational/technical school program in skilled trade (e.g., electrical, carpentry, plumbing), knowledge of blueprints and equipment diagrams and drawings for projects.
- Experience maintaining a school facility
- Valid CDL Georgia driver's license
