Job Summary:

The Learning Technology Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Online Learning and is primarily responsible for tasks related to the Learning Management System (LMS), encompassing project management, instructional design, and faculty development.

 

Essential Functions:

Appropriate accommodations will be considered and implemented as needed to enable individuals with disabilities to fulfill their essential job duties.

 

Project Management Responsibilities:

·         Collaborates with the Director of Online Learning to oversee various aspects of eCampus, including online instruction, course shell development, online instructional training, help desk support, and GVTC Blackboard\Banner course integration.

·         Provides support to Deans/Associate Dean in accessing critical reports within the Blackboard Learning Management System (BBL) for evaluation purposes and offers input during online course observations and performance evaluations.

·         Addresses technical issues and proctoring logistics, offering assistance to students and faculty members concerning Blackboard LMS and online instruction, including Blackboard course shell support.

·         Has extensive understanding of all components, features, and functions of the LMS.

·         Provides Help Desk management and customer service skills.

·         Actively monitors project progress, proactively identifying and resolving potential obstacles, adjusting project deliverables and timelines as necessary, and maintaining open communication with the Director of Online Learning to keep them informed about project status.

·         Cultivates collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders, utilizing both in-person and digital communication channels to foster effective teamwork.

·         Manages project-related communications and demonstrates exceptional time management skills to ensure timely project completion.

·         Utilizes a project management system to meticulously document project progress and milestones.

·         Oversees the organization and maintenance of a digital asset library for graphic design projects.

 

 

Instructional Design

·         Develops interactive learning activities to enhance student engagement with course content, facilitating both student-student and student-instructor interactions.

·         Constructs educational content within the Learning Management System (LMS) to create a dynamic online learning environment.

·         Collaborates closely with faculty members to identify and assess learning materials, which may include open educational resources (OER) and third-party multimedia content.

·         Delivers training and resources on the topics of copyright and fair use, ensuring that all educational materials comply with relevant legal guidelines.

·         Partners with subject matter experts (SMEs) to plan and integrate diverse media assets such as videos, audio, graphics, and other appropriate multimedia elements into instructional materials.

·          Stays informed about emerging trends in online instruction, pedagogy, and educational tools, with a specific focus on areas related to copyright compliance, accessibility, and the utilization of open educational resources.

·         Assesses the quality of courses using a comprehensive course quality rubric, ensuring that they meet established standards for excellence and effectiveness (Quality Assurance).

 

 

Faculty Support and Professionalism:

·         Creates comprehensive guides, resources, and training materials to assist faculty in adopting research-based best practices in teaching and learning across various instructional modalities and the digital learning environment.

·         Conducts training sessions for faculty members, focusing on the effective utilization of the Learning Management System (LMS) and other tools associated with digital learning, including instructional technologies, WebEx, and third-party educational resources.

·         Contributes to the institution's mission by actively collaborating as a team member, consistently demonstrating professionalism when interacting with students, colleagues, and the public. Upholds a positive image of the institution and consistently displays a commitment to service, along with a courteous and approachable demeanor when dealing with students, parents, employers, media, fellow organizational members, and other external stakeholders.

Work Environment:

This position is based in a professional office setting where standard office equipment and technology are regularly utilized.

While executing the job duties, the employee may occasionally need to:

·         Stand

·         Walk

·         Sit

·         Use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls

·         Reach with hands and arms

·         Climb stairs

·         Speak or hear

Additionally, there may be an occasional necessity to lift or relocate office materials and supplies, which could weigh up to 25 pounds.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position.  Work load is Monday-Friday day/evening hours.  Weekends based on need.

 

Travel:

Willing to undertake frequent campus-to-campus travel for the purpose of providing online instructional support, training, and addressing various faculty support requirements.

 

Required Education and Experience:

·         Bachelor’s degree

*and*

·         Two (2) years related work experience

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

·         Master’s degree;

·         Experience with Learning Management Systems

·         Experience with Instructional Design technologies

·         Minimum three (3) years’ experience in post‐secondary education, faculty recruiting, or

related field;

·         Teaching Experience on the post‐Secondary Level;

·         Experience with Banner Software;

·         Strong computer, communication, and interpersonal skills;

·         Three years of recent supervisory experience.
