Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Communications Director, the monitors print, television, and social media for news/information that impacts the Department, the Department’s mission, and Georgia’s agricultural industry and alerts it to relevant internal stakeholders.

 

 

Job Summary:

·         Monitors print media via Google search and Feedly for news about or concerning the department, our staff, or businesses/industries regulated by the department.

·         Monitors TV & Radio broadcasts via TV eyes for news about or concerning the department, our staff, or businesses/industries regulated by the department.

·         Monitors Social Media news about or concerning the department, our staff, or businesses/industries regulated by the department.

·         Alert relevant information to internal stakeholders promptly.

·         Compiles the “Weekly Communications Report” each week.

·         Tracks and Maintains the Communications Division’s “Master Tracker.”

·         Creates and sends multiple newsletters via MailChimp.

·         As assigned, assist with social media creative and copy, press release copy, website copy, and other communications needs at the direction of the Communications Director.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

·         Proficient with social media – Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn.

·         Proficient with Microsoft Suites – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

·         Background/Knowledge of Georgia’s agriculture industry.

·         Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask

·         Video editing and graphic design experience.

·         Bachelor’s degree in political science, Communications, or an agriculture-related field.

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

High school diploma/GED and four (4) years of professional job-related experience or equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience; or two (2) years of experience required at the lower level Graphics and Visual Art Spec 1 (GSP030).
