Our Agency

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is the state agency that focuses solely on policies, programs, and services for people with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or any combination of these. As Georgia’s public safety net, DBHDD operates six field offices and five hospitals throughout the state within three program areas: behavioral health, developmental disabilities and hospital services.

Since opening in 1974, West Central Georgia Regional Hospital (WCGRH) has stood as a beacon of hope for consumers in need of behavioral healthcare services in its region. WCGRH provides inpatient services to 71 counties and elsewhere as needed. WCGRH has inpatient treatment units that serve 40 Adult Mental Health and154 Forensic patients for a total of 194 beds at any point in time.

WCGRH specializes in assisting the mentally ill reach their fullest potential and by helping those who are unable to help themselves.  Whether you are in a position that provides patient care, or part of the supportive services of the hospital, such as food service, you can be assured that you are providing a meaningful service to patients in need.

WCGRH is seeng candidates for the position of Nurse Educator.

Job Description

Pay Grade: L

Supervises, guides, and/or instructs the work assignments of subordinate staff. Responsible for assessing, planning and/or coordinating training sessions for an agency. Performs end-to-end learning and development. Evaluates training and learning outcomes in relation to functional and/or technical training activities. Supervises all activities related to area of expertise.

Roles and Responsibilities:

•    Develops standards and procedures to be used in project development and implementation
•    Directs the development of standards and procedures to be used in project development and implementation
•    May oversee or participate in policy, procedure, and processes development
•    Oversees the development and on-going management of a variety of program areas
•    Provides direction and oversees the development of an effective and comprehensive marketing plan
•    Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision
•    Supervises and plans work of assigned staff    

Minimum Qualifications

Vocational/Technical degree in a directly related area from an accredited college AND Two years 
of experience providing educational, training or instructional services to functional area OR High 
school diploma or GED AND Five years of area specific experience, One year of which in a 
lead/supervisory capacity. 

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:  Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, demonstrate some or all the following skills/experience:

  • Licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia (must be current and valid)
