STATE PROFILE SUMMARY:  Manages one or more of the following areas: OMAT, maintenance, construction, intermodal, planning, utilities, surveying, environmental or traffic. Serves as group leader to professionals providing professional support in one or more of the areas listed.

  

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES:  Senior Project Manager position/s will be assigned to District Five/District Four East Team in Atlanta or District, and under limited supervision, assists the District Program Manager.  Effectively creates and executes project timelines based on priorities, resource availability, and other project requirements (i.e., scope, schedule, and budget). Assists the District Program Manager by providing direction to Project Managers to keep the program on schedule and budget. Under limited supervision and guidance of the District Program Manager, serves as a project manager for transportation infrastructure projects from scope development to project closeout.  Independently manages the scope, budget and schedule of assigned projects and ensures that the projects stay on schedule and remain within budget. The workload of a Senior Project Manager will consist primarily of complex projects or project phases and monitoring of the district program where required per the direction of the District Program Manager.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Minimum Qualifications

 

 STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:

·       Bachelor’s degree in a related field and experience in a lead worker or supervisory role

·         OR Associate degree in a related field and experience in a lead worker or supervisory role

·       OR One year at position equivalent

·        

 

AGENCY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Four-year degree and 6 years related professional experience which includes two years of successfully managing moderately complex projects
  • Two-year degree and 10 years related technical experience
  • Five years of professional related experience in a related transportation field with at least one year as a supervisor in the area of assignment.

 

AGENCY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·       Three or more years of transportation project management experience with an emphasis on highways which includes design/build, and previous project engineering/project management experience on similar or related project types.

·       Three years of successful program delivery experience.

·       Possession of a Construction Industry Institute (CII), Certified Associate of Project Management (CAPM), or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

·       Graduate degree in Project Management or related field from an accredited college or university

·       Three years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role.

·       A working knowledge of project management principles and practices.  

·       Advanced knowledge of transportation construction project management and contract administration.  

·       Advanced knowledge of and experience with contracts, contract language, and contract specifications.   

·       Ability to adapt to new and challenging situations while continually acquiring knowledge to improve skills

·       Ability to guide teams toward successful outcomes and attainment of organizational objectives; is self-motivated and results oriented

·       Ability to articulate ideas, thoughts and facts clearly, orally and in writing

·       Ability to resolve disputes among others effectively

·       Ability to work directly and effectively with people, groups and organizations, including understanding and meeting their needs while effectively communicating inherent limitations

·       Ability to facilitate positive dialogue among others with the goal of resolving differences and reaching compromises

·       Ability to identify and analyze various types of problems along with creating workable solutions

·       Requires statewide travel 

·       Demonstrated knowledge of the Federal Funding Process.

·       Demonstrated ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

·       Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.

·       Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL GDOT JOBS

 

The interview is just one part of the overall selection process and is not the only criteria used to make the final selection.  In addition to the interview, the final selection is based on the applicant’s work history and performance (documented in HR and/or Office files), PeopleSoft/employee status (i.e. rehire code), employee performance reviews, personnel file review (HR & Office Files), criminal background check, employment reference checks (including references and commendations from Managers and other relevant documentation) and, for supervisory positions, demonstrated leadership skills based on past and current work history will be considered.  

 

Good Employment Standing:

In accordance with the Interview and Selection Process (ISP), an applicant must have no active disciplinary actions to be in good employment standing.  Actions that may disqualify an applicant include letters of reprimand (active for 12 months after issuance date); suspension without pay or disciplinary demotion (active for 12 months from the effective date); Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) and Leave Restriction Plans (active until 12 months after the date of conclusion).  In addition, an employee must have an overall ePerformance rating score of three (3) or higher on their most current evaluation.  Please note that Memorandums of Concern are not considered disqualifying factors.  Human Resources may remove any employee from consideration for selection who is pending a disciplinary action; however, if the action is resolved in the employee’s favor, he or she will be allowed to compete.
