Job Summary

The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) - Georgia Academy for the Blind is recruiting for a School Student Services Administrative Assistant.  Under direct supervision of clerical or administrative supervisor, this position will perform a variety of general secretarial, clerical, and administrative support functions/processes or a few specialized essential clerical functions in support of a unit or office and related personnel. The job responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Description of Duties

  • May enter data and /or process documents and records
  • The work includes operating standard office equipment
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, conferences and appointments, ensuring timely communication and logistics
  • Handle incoming calls, emails and other communications and redirect them to the appropriate personnel
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support team goals and contribute to a positive working environment
  • Address and resolve administrative issues and challenges with a proactive and solution-oriented approach
  • Special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned by management

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualification possess one or more of the following:

  • Two years of experience of general office or administrative experience
  • Associate degree in related field and one year of experience in similar setting
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, experience with Infinite Campus, experience with Excel and all Microsoft applications

High school diploma or GED AND Two years of general office or administrative experience.
