Georgia Capital Defender (Macon): First Chair Attorney
The Georgia Capital Defender’s Office has an opening for a capital trial attorney in Macon, Georgia. We are accepting applications for a First Chair-qualified attorney who will lead the team and office.
The Macon Office handles indigent capital cases predominantly in middle Georgia, but applicants must be willing and able to handle cases throughout Georgia if necessary. Applicants must have a strong interest in death penalty defense and client-centered representation. Capital experience is preferred. Applicants are expected to provide zealous representation and advocacy to indigent defendants facing the death penalty.

Description of Duties: The First Chair Attorney will provide competent and zealous representation and advocacy to indigent defendants facing the death penalty. This position performs as an expert attorney, assigned to serious, high-profile, and significant felony cases. Performs other related duties as assigned.
