NOTE: The position will be based in Forest Park but travel to other state farmers markets, the Atlanta office, and other locations as needed is expected.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Division Director oversees the planning, development, and implementation of operational support services for the Georgia Department of Agriculture State Produce Terminals & Markets.

1.     They will develop and implement policies and procedures.

2.     Will provide leadership to subordinate managers, supervisors, and staff.

3.     Will perform property management tasks that promote the Georgia Department of Agriculture State Markets.

 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work directly with the Director of Operations regarding all State Market functions.

·       Interviews, hires, directs, trains, evaluates the performance of, and when necessary, disciplines and discharges employees.

·       Directs and/or performs activities related to the management and rental of investment property and real estate management.

·       Hires and supervises State Produce Terminal Market Managers, rental agents, building superintendents, or other support staff performing operational, clerical, or maintenance duties.

·       Directs, negotiates, and/or approves rental or lease of various properties and ensures that terms of lease agreements are met.

·       Coordinates interaction between department, agency, and facility operating units, other programs, and/or external customers as appropriate.

·       Ensures efficiency, effectiveness, and accuracy of all functions using computer systems, management controls, and sound organizational structure.

·       Oversees the development and ongoing management of the State Produce Terminal program consistent with agency goals and objectives.

·       Participates in the planning, coordination, development, and implementation of long-range goals and objectives.

·       Compiles and maintains records of operating expenses and income.

·       Compiles and maintains records of vacancies, relocations, and key performance indicators.

·       Conducting routine inspections of Market Facilities

·       Managing budgets for all GDA State Markets

·       Working with Market Managers to ensure proper security on Market Facilities

·       Delegating tasks to appropriate Market Managers

·       Working with Market Managers to identify and manage areas of needed renovations or repairs.

·       Working with maintenance and management team in the overseeing of repairs and renovations.

·       Collaborating with Market Managers, Facilities/Maintenance/Construction Managers, and GDA Engineers on facility maintenance and construction needs.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Good communication
      • Customer service skills

·       Strong communication and customer service skills along with experience in the management of State or private sector facilities.

·       Experience in leases and contracts. Self-motivated and the ability to manage time and schedules.

·       Working knowledge of Windows OS as well as Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word.

·       Minimum of 5 years’ experience.

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Six years of experience managing professional level staff OR Ten years of related professional experience AND Six years managing at the level equivalent to area of assignment OR Six years of experience required at the lower level Sr Mgr 2, Business Ops (GSM013) or position equivalent. Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis.
