Vice President for Student Affairs
Under minimal supervision of the President, the Vice President for Student Affairs is responsible for providing and administering a comprehensive system of student services to support students as they enter and progress through the college’s academic programs. Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Serves as a member of the college’s senior leadership team; represents the college internally and externally by serving on various boards, committees, etc.
- In partnership with subordinate managers, develops and maintains a system of services for students, including counseling, admission, orientation, testing, financial aid, job placement, special populations assistance, secondary school initiatives, military outreach, graduation events and student activities.
- Works collaboratively with Academic Affairs and other technical college departments to ensure students are provided course schedules which allow on-time completion;
- Works collaboratively with Administrative Services and other technical college departments to ensure proper administration of student financial services and financial aid programs.
- Through subordinate staff, plans and supervises academic term registration and new student orientation programs.
- Coordinates departmental activities with other federal, state and local agencies that provide student services.
- Assists with the compilation of quarterly and annual enrollment reports.
- Manages the development of Student Services publications.
- Plans and implements graduation exercises.
- Participates in strategic and college planning.
- Assists with the design and execution of special events, projects and activities as requested.
- Manages and oversees financial/budget operation of the Student Affairs division.
- Conducts regular evaluation of services provided and makes adjustments as needed;
- Develops and/or assists with the development of policies and procedures and recommends changes to effectively meet the goals and requirements of the college, while ensuring compliance with state or federal laws that may impact department initiatives.
- Monitors the activities of personnel to ensure compliance with the policies and procedures of Savannah Technical College, the Technical College System of Georgia, and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Supervises subordinate staff, evaluates employees at scheduled intervals and ensures all division employees are evaluated by the appropriate manager as scheduled.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university in education, business, public administration or other appropriate field *and* a minimum of three (3) years of paid work experience in the field of postsecondary administration.
Preferred Qualifications (In addition to the minimum qualifications)
- Five (5) or more years of leadership experience within a Technical College System of Georgia.
- Demonstrated experience serving military-affiliated students.
- Established relationships with military installations in the college’s service area.
- Experience with the BANNER student information system, EAB Navigate, Campus Logic and other similar student support platforms.
Physical Demands
Work is typically performed in an office environment with intermittent sitting, standing, or walking in various settings. The employee occasionally lifts or moves objects of a light to medium weight. Full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes.
