OVERVIEW

DBHDD operates state hospitals and provides for community-based services across the state through contracted providers. The department serves people living with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or any combination of these. As Georgia’s public safety net, our primary responsibility is to serve people who are uninsured. We also serve individuals on Medicaid and others with few resources or options.

Purpose of the Position: Under general supervision, provides professional public health nursing services in accordance with Georgia State Nursing Protocols; as well as Cobb and Douglas Policies and Procedures.  Responsibilities include, but not limited to: Provide wide range of Public Health Nursing Services including Family Planning, Sexually Transmitted Infection testing and treatment, Immunizations, Well Women, Child Health, and Breast Test and More exams using Georgia Department of Public Health Nurse Protocols for Registered Professional Nurses.  Focuses on the prevention of illness, injury, or disability, and the promotion of health and maintenance of populations. Cares for population with special needs during disasters/emergencies and biological and chemical protocols.  This position works to promote and protect the health and safety of the residents of Cobb and Douglas Counties.

External candidates: will be hired as a RN 1 OR RN 2; based on education and/or experience    

Internal candidates: are eligible for a lateral transfer as an RN 2 or RN 3; must be currently working in the same job code

RN 1 Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND completion of a PHN course within one year AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification.  Note: No experience required.$52,125 Annually/Pay Grade K

RN 2 Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse AND CPR certification OR Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND One year of PHN experience AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification..   $58,284 Annually/Pay Grade L

RN 3 Minimum Qualifications-Internal Only: Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND One year of nursing experience AND current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse AND CPR certification OR Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND Two years of nursing experience AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification.  $65,243 Annually/Pay Grade M
