Lanier Technical College – Adult Education Department - (www.laniertech.edu) is conducting a search for the following part-time, non-benefits eligible, FLSA non-exempt position. POSITION:               PART-TIME ADULT EDUCATION INSTRUCTIONAL AIDE; ONE-STOP CENTER

                                        GAINESVILLE, GA                     

REPORTS TO:          DEAN FOR ADULT EDUCATION

WAGE RATE:           $15 - $18 /hour

TIME FRAME:        MAY 13th THROUGH AUGUST 2nd, 2024

 JOB SUMMARY:
Will provide instructional assistance at the One Stop Center located in Gainesville, GA.  Will ensure that students gain the knowledge and skills needed to pass the High School Equivalency exams in the four (4) subject test areas that assess high school level academic skills.  This position is temporary and based on student enrollment each term.  Position is available in GED/HiSET Preparation and/or ESL/ELA instruction.
  Position requires regular work at assigned site. 

MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Under general supervision, is responsible for assisting in classroom instruction and evaluating students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.
  • Assist in teaching basic math, science, social studies, reading, language arts, and soft skills to adult education students.
  • Assist students with Lanier Tech registration paperwork
  • Assist students w/registering for pre-test and official exam
  • Preparation of lesson plans and counseling notes for classroom instruction
  • Evaluation of students' progress in attaining goals and objectives
  • Assists with post-testing, as needed
  • Follow curriculum and College and Career Readiness Standards (training provided)
  • Assist in completing reports accurately and timely
  • Maintain a positive and professional atmosphere in the classroom
  • Mentor and counsel youth as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent is required

COMPETENCIES:

  • Skill in the use of computers and job-related software, including GALIS
  • Skill in oral and written communication
  • Skill in interpersonal relations
  • Ability to adapt instructional material to fit all learning styles
  • Ability to maintain accurate records

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (In addition to Minimum Qualifications and Competencies):

Post-secondary degree in an Education-related field.
