Job Description

A state agency with under 100 employees and annual funding of $14 million is seeking an experienced Accountant to perform a variety of accounting functions. The successful candidate will perform work of considerable difficulty with minimal supervision.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

 ·        As a senior accountant the incumbent will perform accounting duties, including, but not limited to:

 o   Reconcile general ledger and bank statements.

o   Perform cash flow analysis. 

o   Monitor and maintain adequate balance in cash operating account and treasury account to cover monthly expenditures. 

o   Process accounts payable and accounts receivable.

o   Review and verify semi-monthly payroll numbers.

o   Prepare payroll worksheets and payroll entries.

o   Reconcile payroll accounts.

o   Make payments for Federal and State payroll taxes, benefits and other payroll deductions.

o   Prepare payroll-related reports, analysis and projection.

o   Issue financial statements.

o   Prepare month-end management and financial reports.

o   Perform month-end closing and year-end closing.

o   Prepare SAO and Department of Audits year-end reports.

o   Prepare preliminary budgetary compliance report.

o   Participate in State, Federal and inter-agency audits.

o   Conduct other accounting and reporting activities, as needed.

Bachelor's degree in accounting and four (4) years of professional accounting job-related experience, which includes two (2) years in a managerial or supervisory role; or One (1) year of experience at the lower level Mgr, Accounting (FIM010) or equivalent position.
