Currently, we are accepting resumes for Retirement Specialist position in Atlanta, GA. 

The Member Services Division is currently seeking a Retirement Specialist in the New Retirement Section. Candidates for this position will be responsible for processing new retirement and active death applications.

 

Essential Functions

  • Review retirement applications that are submitted electronically and in paper format to confirm eligibility for retirement of members according to state, federal and TRS policies.
  • Audit member account to ensure correct creditable service and benefits as defined under state and federal law, Board of Trustees policies and agency guidelines.
  • Communicate with members and/or reporting employer to ensure receipt of required documentation and verify member's contribution and interest have been posted correctly to the account. Communication encompasses but not limited to visitors, phone calls, emails and written correspondences.
  • Review active death accounts to determine eligibility of benefits and audit death accounts for accuracy of service credit and contributions. 
  • Requests necessary certification, documentation, paperwork, and records from previous and current employers, members and beneficiaries. 
  • Responds to high volume telephone calls and written inquiries from members with regard to application status, required documentation, and other issues regarding retiring applicants TRS accounts. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

 
Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or finance from an accredited college or university.

Georgia State Employees’ Pension and Savings Plan (GSEPS) is a combination Defined Benefit/ Defined Contribution plan with the following components:

  • Defined Benefit Plan (pension) - Multiple pension plans are available based on the type of entity you are employed by and your length/years of service.
  • Defined Contribution Plan (401(k)) - New employees are automatically enrolled at a 5% contribution rate, allowing for the maximum employer match to be contributed to the employee’s account.
