The Family Violence (FV) Coordinator at the Georgia Commission on Family Violence (GCFV) works directly with family violence intervention programs and community family violence task forces as the agency’s liaison responsible for planning, managing, and facilitating GCFV’s core duties of these programs. The FV Coordinator provides direct support in creating and developing new task forces and provides ongoing technical support, guidance, and training for task forces around the state.  

This position provides oversight of the FVIP compliance and certification process for providers and facilitators statewide. The FV coordinator's other duties and responsibilities include coordinating, scheduling, and facilitating training programs for FVIP providers and facilitators in accordance with the rules governing Family Violence Intervention Programs. 

The FV Coordinator must be able to perform the job’s responsibilities under general supervision and fully support GCFV in the administration and coordination of the services and programs of the community task forces and intervention programs. The ideal candidate for his position has excellent oral and written communication skills, some experience with training and/or presenting, and is well-organized. Skills or certification in project management training or certification is preferred.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Family Violence Coordinators have broad responsibility and serve as the state's subject matter expert for Family Violence Intervention Programs (FVIPs) and Family Violence Task Forces.

  • Support existing task forces and FVIPs in developing new task forces and FVIPs in judicial circuits where they don't exist.
  • Supervise the Commission’s FVIP and task force division and external partners in the planning, management, and execution of compliance audits and administration of certifications for providers and facilitators.
  • Plan, develop, manage, and facilitate training for FVIP providers, facilitators, and task forces in coordination with staff and external partners, consistent with requirements set out by agency rules governing FVIPs. 
  • Develop, review, and edit Commission-facilitated and external Commission-approved training materials for FVIPs and task forces to ensure consistency with approved intervention program curricula and reflect current family violence intervention trends and developments.
  • Consult with GCFV’s leadership and staff to manage the development and preparation of FVIP and task force communications, including website management, training calendar, registration, and announcements.
  • Participate in the planning and development of the Commission's annual family violence and sexual assault statewide conference.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Commission and external partners, including probation officers, victim liaisons, compliance officers, contracted facilitators, and other governmental and nongovernmental constituencies.
  • Maintain and update the Task Force and FVIP Directory on an ongoing basis.
  • Guide strategic planning sessions for Task Forces.
  • Attends community awareness events throughout the state as appropriate.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with FVIP providers, facilitators, and task force leaders to provide updates and resolve issues.
  • Conducts an annual task force survey for information and data collection purposes.
  • Publishes results of the survey in an annual task force report.
  • Process FVIP certification applications and monthly fees.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

At least two years of work or volunteer experience with Family Violence Task Forces, Fatality Review teams, OR family violence intervention programs. Minimum of 3 years of domestic violence-related work. Strong skills in the following areas: leadership (particularly in facilitating diverse or community-based groups), oral and written communications, and training coordination. Project management training, certification, and/or experience highly preferred. Community organizing or event planning experience.

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of job-related experience; or two (2) years of experience at the lower level Social Svcs Prgm Coord 1 (SSP030) or position equivalent. Note: Some positions require eligibility for licensure.
