The Georgia Commission on Family Violence (GCFV) is seeking a project coordinator for the Support for Survivors of Murder-Suicide (SSMS) Project to plan, implement, manage, and evaluate the social services programs to meet the needs of all survivors of family violence murder-suicide incidents in Georgia.

The SSMS project coordinator administers and coordinates the SSMS project’s services and deliverables, including direct client support services, stakeholder training/technical assistance, oversight and leadership for the Georgia Murder-Suicide Response Network (MSRN), and managing the murder-suicide Survivor Support Groups. In addition, the coordinator shall develop and provide resources and support to communities and constituents for strategically piloting, promoting, and implementing innovative local systemic changes to better support murder-suicide survivors in Georgia’s communities.

This is a remote teleworking position. However, the agency’s central office is in Atlanta, GA, and the candidate must be able to attend office work activities when required.

Job Responsibilities & Performance Standards:

• Provide training, technical assistance, and targeted resources to communities and local constituents to aid in strategically piloting and implementing innovative protocols to support survivors of domestic violence-related murder-suicide.
•  Establish and maintain professional and productive relationships with local community organizations and individuals to meet communities' needs for responding to domestic violence-related murder-suicides and assist survivors.
• Provide professional and trauma-informed direct support and bereavement companioning to murder-suicide survivors to assist access to appropriate services and resources, including crime victims' compensation, counseling and support groups, grief support, etc.
• Work collaboratively with GCFV team members and external partners to develop and/or enhance community-based responsiveness and protocols specifically for addressing the unique circumstances of murder-suicide events. Coordinator will serve as the agency's liaison for murder-suicide-related information sharing.
• Interact with key stakeholders to collect information and data on domestic violence-related murder-suicides in Georgia.
• Provide technical assistance, on request, to communities implementing strategic plans, protocols and/or coordinated community response solutions for addressing local murder-suicide rates.
• Conduct outreach to survivors of murder-suicide to provide information on services and support available through the project, including direct advocacy, bereavement companioning, and referrals to support groups or counseling.
• Facilitate and provide leadership to the Georgia Murder-Suicide Response Network of mental health clinicians to provide services for survivors.
• Direct the execution of Survivors' Support Groups, including selecting contracted facilitators, promoting the groups and soliciting participants, tracking data, and following up with survivors throughout the process.
• Maintain current, comprehensive knowledge of statewide murder-suicide statistics.
• Cultivate relationships with external partners and identify opportunities to expand awareness and enhance statewide and local responsiveness to murder-suicide consistent with the project deliverables and overall agency mission and goals.
•  Contribute content and support the agency’s social media and outreach initiatives to promote the murder-suicide project and support groups to survivors and community partners statewide.
• Support grant administrative reporting activities and manage project deliverables promptly and in coordination with the agency’s executive director and supervisor.
• Attend regular training opportunities to enhance subject matter expertise and remain abreast of current trends and topics in the field. Serve as the subject matter expert and agency resource in the assigned area.
• Participate in coordinating the GCFV annual family violence conference, training seminars, and presentations for community and civic organizations and the public.
•  Assist with agency-wide initiatives, training, special projects, or other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• Five or more years of work experience in direct domestic violence services in rural and/or urban settings. Experience should include working with domestic violence victims and may include responding to crisis calls, conducting outreach to victims, and completing client intake assessments. Clinical licensure will receive strong consideration.
• Three or more years of experience facilitating training and/or presentations. Strong preference for experience in training on domestic violence or related relevant topics.
•  Project management and/or grant writing/administration experience and/or certification.
• Possess high proficiency in the following areas: coordinated community response engagement, victim advocacy, safety planning, trauma-informed and victim-centered practices, training coordination, and organization/record-keeping.
•  Excellent oral and written communication skills.
