Machine Tool Instructor - Liberty Campus
Savannah Technical College is seeking a Machine & Tool/CNC Technology program Instructor. The Instructor is responsible for teaching students in classroom and lab ennvironments as well as advising students and performing various departmental and school wide assignments. This position is based a the Liberty Campus, but may require regular travel to other Savannah Technical College campus locations.
Responsibilities
- Recruitment and retention of students.
- Daily teaching duties include class lecture, lesson planning, and classroom management.
- Other duties include reporting inventory, school-wide planning, providing registration assistance, working on projects with other instructional areas and perform other duties as assigned by the Dean for Instruction.
- Flexible work schedule hours to include day/evening classes.
Duties include a flexible schedule of lecture, student advisement and registration. Successful candidate must be willing to work split teaching shifts that might require split teaching days. May be required to manage and recruit adjunct instructors. Must fully embrace the responsibility for maintaining an acceptable number of students within the Machine Tool program, and also work diligently to maximize student placements in the field or related fields by working directly with local employers and the Department of Labor.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in Machine Tool (OR)
- Diploma in Machine & Tool with either CNC background or the ability to quickly acieve CNC credentials (OR)
- CNC degree/diploma, with verifiable work experience in Maching & Tool or a separate credential in Machine & Tool.
- Must have five (5) years of documented Machine and Tool work experience within the past seven (7) years.
- Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, along with computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching experience at a post-secondary institution is desired.
Physical Demands
Teaching responsibilities are typically performed in a classroom/lab environment with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for three (3) – four (4) continuous hours at a time. The employee frequently lifts lightweight objects up to 70LBS. The work is performed in campus buildings and outdoors where the employee is occasionally exposed to cold or inclement weather. The exposure to dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, chemicals, and fumes is possible in the laboratory environment. The ability to distinguish colors is required for purposes of electrical wiring.

Salary is commensurate with education and work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, annual and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits package.
