JOB SUMMARY
The Academic Advisor is responsible for delivering excellent and relevant academic advisement, information, and other duties as assigned by the Director of Enrollment Services.
MAJOR DUTIES
Provide academic advising and registration assistance to incoming and first-semester students.
Conduct virtual advising appointments through the Virtual Advising Calendar.
Monitor and respond to inquiries received through the Advising Center's general email inbox.
Guide students on academic requirements, including transcript submission, degree planning, and institutional policies.
Refer students to appropriate campus resources, including the Financial Aid Office, to ensure completion of financial aid and enrollment requirements.
Assist the Coordinator of Academic Advising with planning and implementing Advising Center programs and events.
Collaborate with the Office of Admissions, Student Support Services, academic deans, faculty, and other campus partners to develop and implement programs that support new student registration, advising, student retention, and student success.
Maintain accurate student records and documentation related to advising activities in accordance with institutional policies.
Stay current on institutional policies, academic programs, curriculum changes, and advising best practices to provide accurate information to students.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Considerable knowledge of Augusta Technical College academic programs and requirements, student services policies and procedures, and campus resources.

Knowledge of transfer requirements to four-year institutions and articulation agreements.
Skill in delivering public presentations and designing training sessions.
Skill in effective advising techniques.
Ability to work with at-risk and culturally diverse populations.

Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public

Ability to pay close attention to details, coordination, and prioritization.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor’s degree from a nationally accredited college or university in counseling, educational administration, vocational leadership, or a closely related field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in a related field *and* Three (3) years of experience in student affairs.
Minimum Qualifications:
