Job Description:

Position Summary

The Part-Time Adult Education Coordinator supports the recruitment, enrollment, orientation, and instructional success of adult learners participating in Central Georgia Technical College's Adult Education programs and educational initiatives. This position primarily recruits prospective adult education students, conducts student orientations, and provides instruction and academic support through bootcamp and other Adult Education initiatives.

 

Major Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: 

 

Adult Education Recruitment

  • Recruit prospective students for Adult Education programs, including GED/HSE preparation, through community outreach, events, referrals, presentations, and other recruitment activities.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community organizations, workforce partners, employers, schools, libraries, agencies, and other organizations that serve prospective adult learners.
  • Provide accurate information regarding Adult Education programs, eligibility requirements, enrollment processes, instructional schedules, and available student support services.
  • Follow up with prospective students to encourage enrollment and participation.
  • Assist with recruitment activities throughout the College's Adult Education service area as assigned.
  • Represent Adult Education at community events, recruitment activities, informational sessions, and college-sponsored events.

Student Orientation and Onboarding

  • Conduct or assist with Adult Education student orientation sessions.
  • Explain program expectations, attendance requirements, academic resources, available support services, and pathways to GED/HSE completion.
  • Assist students with navigating the enrollment and onboarding process.
  • Help students understand assessment results and develop appropriate instructional goals in collaboration with Adult Education staff.
  • Provide referrals to appropriate college and community resources when students experience barriers to participation or completion.

 

Bootcamp Instruction

  • Teach assigned Bootcamp classes using approved Adult Education curriculum, instructional materials, and evidence-based practices for adult learners.
  • Provide instruction in subject areas based on student needs, assessment results, and program requirements.
  • Prepare lesson plans, instructional activities, learning materials, and assessments appropriate for accelerated instruction.
  • Provide individualized and small-group instruction to address academic skill gaps.
  • Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback and academic support.
  • Prepare students for testing by providing targeted instruction, test-taking strategies, practice opportunities, and academic remediation.
  • Maintain accurate instructional, attendance, assessment, and student progress records in accordance with College and Adult Education requirements.
  • Collaborate with Adult Education faculty and staff to support student persistence, credential attainment, and transition to postsecondary education or workforce training.
  • Host six Bootcamps a year within our 11-county SDA.

 

Student Engagement and Support

  • Develop positive, professional relationships with adult learners and encourage persistence toward educational goals.
  • Identify student barriers that may affect attendance, participation, or completion and connect students with appropriate resources.
  • Promote a supportive and inclusive learning environment that respects the diverse experiences and needs of adult learners.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, program planning, and other activities as assigned.

Projected Location / Work Hours:   

The College is seeking to fill openings in the Adult Education locations. The part-time positions are eligible to work up to 19 hours per week based on the needs of the program.

 

The following work schedule is projected and may change based on actual needs:

 

  • Monday – Thursday 8:15 AM – 1:00 PM

 

Minimum Qualifications: Must upload transcripts that show conferred educational degrees and document qualifications in the employment history:

 

  • Earned a Bachelor’s degree from an academic institution accredited by an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education
  • Documented three (3) years of related work experience. 
  • Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.

 

Preferred Qualifications, in addition to minimum qualifications:   Preference may be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, provide transcripts of conferred degrees and demonstrate in the employment history possession of one or more of the following:

 

  • Documented experience in recruitment
  • Documented experience working with LACES
  • Strong skills and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and follow federal, state, and local policies and regulations.
  • Proven ability to apply analytical skills and pay close attention to detail.

 

Salary / Benefits:

This position is a gross hourly paid position starting at $16.00; the actual hourly rate will be determined by the candidate’s highest qualifying degree based on meeting the minimum and preferred qualifications. Part-time positions are temporary, time-limited appointments encompassing a single academic term or period and do not imply or suggest a continuance of employment or a promise of future full-time employment. CGTC is a member of the Teachers Retirement System of Georgia (TRS) and the Employees Retirement System of Georgia (ERS). Part-time positions are not eligible for TRS or ERS retirement benefits, state insurance, leave, or holiday pay.

3.    Postsecondary transcripts that demonstrate the conferral of the degree, if applicable, and demonstrate the applicant meets the educational minimum requirements and, if applicable, the preferred educational requirements (grade reports and diploma copies are not accepted in lieu of transcripts)

 

4.    Positions requiring a High School Diploma or GED as a minimum qualification do not have to submit a HSD/GED transcript documentation as part of the application process

 

5.    Non-photo license(s) and/or certification(s) which fulfill the minimum, and if applicable the preferred qualifications stated in the job announcement
