Summary

The Victim Services Specialist II plays a critical role in the post-sentencing phase by serving as a liaison between the State Board of Pardons and Paroles, the Georgia Department of Corrections, the Department of Community Supervision, and victims, their families, and members of the community. The Specialist is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate communication, advocacy, and support for victims navigating the post-conviction process.

Ideal candidate will be able to maintain high efficient productivity in our fast-paced office environment.

Key Responsibilities

● Victim Registration and Notifications: Process victim registrations, investigate protests, and issue notifications in accordance with statutory requirements.

● Crisis Intervention: Provide crisis intervention services and communication to support crime victims in urgent situations.

● Liaison and Advocacy: Serve as a liaison between victims, agency staff, and external service providers, fostering clear and effective communication.

● Case Management: Log, assess, and investigate correspondence, protests, and

complaints from victims, families, and the community to ensure compliance with

statutory requirements.

● Outreach and Support: Coordinate outreach initiatives and perform additional duties orprojects as assigned by division management.

Preferred:

● Bilingual proficiency (Spanish).

● Credentialed Advocate (state or national certification).

● Experience working as a victim advocate or in victim services with the District

Attorney’s Office, State Board of Pardons and Paroles, Georgia Department of

Corrections, Department of Community Supervision, or the Criminal Justice

Coordinating Council.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of job-related experience; or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Advocate 1 (SSP080) or position equivalent.--Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.
