Job Description:

Field Position

Under general supervision, the Building Inspector performs inspections of manufactured homes retailers for compliance with policy, procedures, state and federal regulations and standards to ensure safety and compliance. This position also investigates complaints under the jurisdiction of the Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire.

Inspect the installation of manufactured housing units for an assigned region of the state of Georgia.

Inspect retailer dealer premises, verify validity of operating certificates and review records sales, inventory, performance logs, etc.

Investigate complaints of building and safety code violations for installation of manufactured housing units.

Receives general administrative direction on routine assignments and complex assignments.

Provide assistance and training on code compliance to retail dealers and local officials.

Prepares and submits activity and inspection reports daily.

Plans and schedules work activities to achieve departmental goals.

Maintain specialized state issued equipment and vehicles upon receipt.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma/GED and one (1) year of job-related experience.--Note: Some positions may require a valid driver's license.--Note: Some positions may require certification and/or licensure.
