Job Description:

DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, provides business support for the daily operation of the Governor’s Office of Education and Workforce Strategy (GOEWS). The position requires independent judgment and initiative, critical thinking, time management, and understanding of the agency’s processes, policies, and procedures. Coordinates meetings and assists in the preparation of agendas, presentations, and other materials. Assists in the coordination of program events. Research, analyze, organize, and document information as directed. May provide support for various projects, grants, programs, and/or specialized functions.

 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders to GOEWS.
  • Use sound judgment to respond appropriately to internal and external contacts.
  • Coordinate meetings for Executive Director and GOEWS staff; assist in the creation of agendas and other supporting materials.
  • Create and maintain business workflows to improve office efficiency.
  • General office maintenance, including office supply inventory and orders/reorders, as necessary.
  • Assist in planning agency-wide events, meetings, and presentations.
  • May assist in the preparation and development of agency goals and objectives by researching and organizing requested documentation.
  • Analyze and recommend resource requirements for business process improvements. 
  • Prioritize workloads in an environment where priorities can change at short notice.
  • Transfer and organize information/data into PowerPoint presentations, Word, or Excel spreadsheets.
  • Create first draft of correspondence and edit suggestions as requested.
  • Send notification of data updates
  • Assist in tracking pertinent legislation
  • Manage projects that require research, information checking, and report generation.

Requirements 

  • Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills  
  • Proficient computer skills; advanced skills using Microsoft Word and Excel 
  • Experience in organizing lists of data to produce a summary report and tracking changes to provide current updates
  • Attention to detail and accuracy 
  • Competent in managing time requirements/priorities and appropriately evaluating own progress toward completion of work goal
  • Critical thinking skills to identify and resolve issues promptly
  • Proactive, solution-oriented, accountable, and committed to continuous improvement
  • Experience in assuming responsibility for completing or overseeing tasks, projects, or initiatives from start to finish and being accountable for the results.
  • Flexible and willing to perform various tasks, as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The following standards express the minimum educational background and experience as evidence of an applicant’s ability to qualify for the position. Any combination of education and experience, if evaluated as equivalent, may qualify an applicant for this position.

  • Minimum four years of related experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate degree in business or related field from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of experience related to area of assignment.--Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.
