Position Description:
The Business & Industry Services Specialist is responsible for the coordination of assigned operations within the Economic Development Division. Maintains qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) Policy Manual and accreditation standards. Follows rules and regulations as described by the TCSG Policy Manual and other policies and procedures established by the institution. Position may require travel within the college’s service area and other travel as needed.
Position responsibilities may include, but not limited to, the following:
- Promotes the continuing education program and customized training to private and public organizations;
- Develops course curriculum, schedules, training aids, and evaluation methods;
- Conducts training for surrounding business and industries; continuing education classes, and Georgia Department of Correction facilities;
- Schedules on and off-site training according to the needs of the service delivery area;
- Oversees course evaluations and training outcomes;
- Orders and inventories equipment and supplies;
- Implements safety procedures in all areas of instruction;
- Maintains files on the training provided;
- Other duties as assigned

Location/Work Schedule:
This position generally works normal day hours of 7:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday; however, actual hours will be set to meet business needs. Campus reporting location of this position is the Macon campus. Position will require regular travel within the College’s service area and additional travel as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Must upload transcripts/certifications which show conferred educational degrees/current certifications and document qualifications in the employment history
- Associates Degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution ▪ Three (3) years’ documented experience in a business environment Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis
Preferred Qualifications: Preference may be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, provide transcripts of conferred degrees and demonstrate in the employment history possession of one or more of the following:
- Documented work experience in the post-secondary setting
- Documented experience developing training curriculum and conducting business and industry training
- Documented experience working in the aerospace/defense industry or industrial maintenance/manufacturing setting
- Documented experience with sales and marketing
Salary / Benefits:
The selected candidate can expect to receive a contingent offer with an annual gross salary range of low to mid $40s. Actual salary will be determined by the candidate’s highest qualifying degree. This is a 12-month position and is eligible for state benefits to include retirement, insurance, leave accrual and holiday pay. CGTC is a member of Teachers Retirement System of Georgia (TRS) and Employees Retirement System of Georgia (ERS).

Postsecondary transcripts that demonstrate the conferral of the degree, if applicable, and demonstrates the applicant meets the educational minimum requirements and, if applicable, the preferred educational requirements (grade reports and diploma copies are not accepted in lieu of transcripts)
Positions requiring a High School Diploma or GED as a minimum qualification do not have to submit a HSD/GED transcript documentation as part of the application process
Non-photo license(s) and/or certification(s) which fulfill the minimum, and if applicable the preferred qualifications stated in the job announcement
