Position Overview:

The Business Support Analyst provides comprehensive administrative, organizational, and operational support to the Inspector General/Director of Law Enforcement.

The position is responsible for coordinating daily administrative functions, maintaining records and correspondence, managing schedules and meetings, assisting with purchasing and financial documentation, and providing professional communication and customer service to agency personnel, government officials, partner agencies, and the public. The position requires a high degree of professionalism, discretion, organization, accuracy, and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the [Division/Office] Director, managers, and staff.
  • Prepare, format, proofread, and distribute correspondence, memoranda, reports, presentations, spreadsheets, and other official documents.
  • Maintain organized electronic and paper files in accordance with state records-retention requirements.
  • Assist with preparation, tracking, and distribution of official records and administrative documents.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements, travel authorizations, expense documentation, and related records.
  • Assist with purchasing activities, purchase orders, invoices, receipts, and other financial documentation.
  • Monitor office supplies, equipment, and administrative needs and initiate requests for replacement or replenishment.
  • Assist with personnel-related administrative functions, including onboarding documentation, leave records, training records, and other personnel paperwork.
  • Maintain confidential information and exercise appropriate discretion regarding personnel, investigative, operational, and agency matters.
  • Assist with tracking deadlines, assignments, projects, correspondence, and requests requiring follow-up.
  • Prepare statistical information, spreadsheets, logs, and administrative reports.
  • Coordinate information between the division and other agency offices, state agencies, local governments, federal partners, and external organizations.
  • Assist with special projects, presentations, audits, inspections, meetings, and agency initiatives.
  • Provide administrative support during emergencies, special events, exercises, activations, or other periods requiring extended agency operations.
  • Ensure administrative procedures are followed consistently and in accordance with applicable state laws, policies, rules, and agency procedures.

Perform other duties and special assignments as directed.

Job Summary:

Under supervision, performs complex administrative duties and statistical, financial, or operational data analysis and reporting in support of management decision-making in the functional area.

Identifies trends, discrepancies, and variances to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations. May partner with other departments, divisions, outside agencies, and vendors to address business issues. Exercises various latitudes of independent judgment. May administer or provide support for various projects, grants, contracts, implementation of procedures, and/or any specialized functions. Provides administrative and operational support to the Georgia Department of Agriculture's Law Enforcement and Emergency Management Division. Supports the Director and division leadership in coordinating daily operations, executive schedules, correspondence, meetings, personnel activities, purchasing, travel, records management, and special projects. The position may handle confidential and sensitive law enforcement, investigative, personnel, emergency management, and agency information and is responsible for maintaining strict confidentiality and exercising sound judgment and discretion. Assists division leadership with tracking critical assignments, deadlines, reports, operational activities, and emergency response requirements. The position requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, professionalism, initiative, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced public safety and emergency management environment.

(JCCP) State Minimum Qualifications:

Associate degree in business or a related field from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of experience related to the area of assignment.

Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provide the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over- year.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of experience related to the area of assignment.
