This position will primarily work on both Moultrie and Tifton campus locations and, as needed, on the Thomasville and Bainbridge campus locations.
JOB SUMMARY
The Campus Police Officer is a P.O.S.T. Certified Peace Officer responsible for protecting life and property while maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming educational environment for students, employees and visitors on a technical college campus. This position performs a full-range of law enforcement duties, responds to emergencies, investigates criminal activity, and promotes positive community relationships.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Patrols assigned campus locations to deter crime and maintain a visible law enforcement presence;
- Enforces federal, state, and local laws, as well as institutional policies;
- Responds to emergency and non-emergency calls for service, including medical emergencies, fires, alarms, suspicious activity, and investigating disturbances and criminal complaints;
- Collaborates with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies during investigations and joint operations; apprehends criminal suspects;
- Conducts preliminary and follow-up criminal investigations, interviews victims, witnesses, and suspects, collects evidence, and prepares comprehensive reports;
- Maintains public order during campus events, demonstrations, and emergencies;
- Directs traffic during special events; Provides security for events;
- Responds to fires, natural disasters, or other hazardous events;
- Assists with disaster response or emergency management activities, including evacuations, lockdowns, shelter-in-place procedures, and disaster response;
- Performs security checks of campus buildings, parking lots, and other facilities to identify hazards or suspicious conditions;
- Provides escorts for students, employees, and visitors when requested;
- Participates in crime prevention initiatives, safety presentations, and community outreach programs to educate the campus community;
- Completes accurate and timely incident reports, arrest reports, citations, evidence documentation, and other required records;
- Maintains departmental equipment, vehicles, firearms, and issued protective equipment in accordance with departmental standards;
- Maintains Peace Officer Standards Training certification;
- Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) as defined by The Clery Act, forwards reports of crimes to the Campus Police Department, and participates in annual CSA training;
- Participates in assessment, planning, budgeting, and professional development;
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINUMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED and P.O.S.T certification is required

- Prior law enforcement experience
- P.O.S.T Certified Peace Officer
