Job Description:

Start your career in public service. The DHS’ Division of Family & Children Services (DFCS) / Child Welfare Services (CWS) is seeking candidates to fill positions as a Social Service Technician 1, reporting to an CWS Tech Supervisor.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Completes intakes based on interviews with clients, family or reporter. 
  • Maintains contact with other social service agencies, health care providers, etc. involved with clients providing information an obtain updates on clients’ progress. 
  • Conducts screenings and/or searches for case history, relatives, etc.   
  • Assists clients in locating and utilizing community resources, such as legal, medical, financial assistance, etc. 
  • Organizes records, uploads data & documents into records, pulls reports, compiles data, etc. 

Core Competencies:

  • Ability to work effectively at multiple levels of the organization and with multiple teams.
  • Excellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED AND one (1) year of experience in a social services-related position.
