This is a sensitive government position.
The GBI follows the Federal statute regarding drug use and is a drug-free workplace. Although some locations (domestic and foreign) have legalized recreational drug use,
applicants who use or have used drugs or controlled substances will be subject to disqualification from employment with the GBI.
Marijuana Usage - Candidates that have used marijuana or cannabis in any form (natural or synthetic) and in any location (domestic or foreign) within (1) year preceding the date of application, will be disqualified.
Other Drugs - Candidates that have used any dugs other than marijuana, within 10 years preceding the date of application, will be disqualified.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
GCIC's CJIS Support unit is a 24/7 operation providing Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) operation support, technical support and connectivity to all criminal justice and law enforcement agencies in Georgia. Has responsibility for project and assignments related to CJIS Programs. CJIS Programs may include NCIC Services, CJIS Network or other services provided by the Georgia Crime Information Center. Process, review, setup and maintain Originating Agency Identifiers (ORIs) for Georgia. Utilize knowledge of current and new federal, state, and local legislation, policies, and procedures that apply to the ORI process in support of the CJIS.
Working Hours: 3rd Shift position (Tuesday-Saturday, 10:00pm-6:30am)
** Note: First 6 (six) weeks of employment will be training Monday-Friday, 07:00 AM - 3:30 PM **
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Ability to use a computer
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Strong verbal, oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to utilize a Multi-line phone
- Position requires incumbent to work in an office setting which includes shared office space with other professionals.
- A valid Georgia driver's license is required. This position may require travel and operating a state vehicle.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Criminal Justice IS Spec 1; ($41,000.44):
High school diploma or GED.
Criminal Justice IS Spec 2; ($43,050.46):
High School diploma or GED AND TWO (2) years of customer service/business related experience.
Criminal Justice IS Spec 3; ($47,000.00):
High School diploma or GED AND Four (4) years of customer service/business related experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
In addition to the minimum qualifications, preference will be given to applicants that possess one (1) year of working knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
- Originating Agency Identifier (ORI) structure and processes
- GBI/GCIC applications and programs
- Law, policies and regulations related to the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS)
- Experience as a CJIS Terminal Operator
- Experience as a Terminal Agency Coordinator
- Experience working in a Criminal Justice or Public Safety Environment
- Experience working a helpdesk
