JOB DUTIES:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities are to participate in ongoing system security planning and development activities and work closely with IT teams across the State to support information security initiatives. The successful candidate will actively engage in cybersecurity, technical auditing, and related activities to ensure the agency is compliant with federal and State guidelines.

In addition to the primary responsibility, the selected candidate will:

Collect and analyze vulnerability logs and partner with application support managers to develop and execute remediation plans.

Participate in information security projects and facilitate information security and related initiatives

Use a variety of tools to implement and audit security governance, risk management and compliance for state and local law enforcement agencies.

Create and manage cybersecurity training and phishing simulation exercises Respond to escalations for end-user computing security issues in a timely manner

Proactively collaborate with IT teams within the organization to analyze, research, and resolve security issues

Essential Job Functions:

  • Problem solving: Must be able to analyze information to guide decisions and actions through experience, observation, and reasoning. Must be able to audit computer systems and networks to assess risks and determine improvements for security procedures and processes.
  • Time management: Must be able to effectively organize and plan daily, weekly, and monthly activities.
  • Communication: Must be able to effectively communicate through a variety of channels including written and verbal. Must be able to explain information about security needs and potential threats to technical and non-technical audiences within the organization.
  • Microsoft Office 365 knowledge
  • Outlook: Must be able to effectively use personal information management software for scheduling, email messaging, and task management.
  • Excel: Must be able to format and analyze data in spreadsheets using standard techniques including data cleaning, pivot tables, and sparklines.
  • PowerPoint: Ability to create new and modify existing presentations
  • Teams: Must be able to effectively use collaboration applications to facilitate meetings, chat, and schedule activities with internal and external stakeholders. Word: Must be able to create professional documentation including technical guides, user manuals, and reports
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit; stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop and kneel. Occasionally lifting to 15 lbs. unassisted is required.
  • Work Environment: Must be able to report to work in an office setting which includes shared office space with other employees.
  • Travel requirements: Must be able to travel occasionally for work and safely operate a state vehicle. Must possess a valid Georgia driver’s license.

AGENCY SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity or a related field from an accredited college/university.

OR

Associates degree in Cybersecurity or a related field and 2 years of experience in Cybersecurity or a related field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

In addition to the minimum qualifications, preference will be given to applicants that possess any of the following:

Currently holds advanced cybersecurity or network certifications (CAP, CASP, CySA+, OSCP, CCNA)

OR

3 or more years’ experience in Cybersecurity

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED AND Currently holds an entry level cyber certification per state guidelines or achieves within 12 months of start date: (Security+, Network+, Linux+, MTA, GSEC) AND Must hold or be able to qualify for a US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) clearance
