Job Summary:
The Driver's Education Instructor provides classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction to prepare students to become safe, responsible, and confident drivers. The instructor teaches state-approved curriculum, delivers one-on-one driving instruction in an approved driver's education vehicle, and promotes safe driving practices and compliance with Georgia traffic laws. Some major duties include:
• Teaching state-approved driver education classroom courses using approved materials that meet the requirements of Joshua’s Law
• Providing one-on-one behind-the-wheel instruction in an approved driver education vehicle
• Instructing students on vehicle operation, defensive driving, traffic laws, and safe driving practices
• Strong commitment to student safety and welfare
• Evaluating student performance and maintaining required records
• Using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint for communication and instruction
• Maintaining a safe, positive, and professional learning environment
• Working collaboratively with students, parents, and colleagues
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must have held a valid driver’s license for a minimum of ten (10) years
• Clear Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
• Ability to pass DOT physical, pre-employment and random drug testing, and complete a state-approved Driver Education Instructor Qualification course and pass all required examinations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ten (10) years of work experience
• Held a valid driver’s license for fifteen (15) years
• Prior teaching, training, coaching, or instructional experience
• Experience in public safety, law enforcement, emergency services, transportation, or related field
• Experience working with teenagers, young adults, or student populations
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications for this position will be determined by the teaching discipline and compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies. Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the course assigned.Equal Employment Opportunity Employer
