Job Description:

Job Summary:

The individual in this position assists teachers with curriculum planning, supervision of students, and teaching children in a classroom setting; assists in presenting and reinforcing learning concepts.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides support to teachers to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environment

  • Assists teachers in planning and preparation for daily activities; aids instructional efforts of the teacher.

  • Assists the teacher in preparing lesson outlines, plans, and curricula in assigned areas

  • Plans, prepares, and develops various teaching aids for use in the classroom, including activity sheets, drawings, and similar handouts

  • Presents subject matter to students, under the guidance of a teacher, utilizing a variety of methods including stories, discussions, and role playing

  • Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts

  • Perform a variety of clerical duties in support of classroom activities, such as preparing, typing, copying and filing instructional materials

  • Operate and care for instructional equipment and materials

  • Observe and control behavior of students in the classroom according to approved procedures

  • Participate in professional growth activities

  • Follow the communicated policies and procedures of the school district

  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a school setting or related field

  • Associate degree from an accredited institution in general education, sociology, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited

  • Must hold or be eligible for a Georgia Paraprofessional Certificate

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in an educational setting
