Job Description:

POSITION:                ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM FULL-TIME INSTRUCTOR         

 

REPORTS TO:           Dean of Advanced Technology & Engineering

SALARY:                   $80K

DEADLINE:               Until filled

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under general supervision, develops program and course outlines, goals, and objectives.  Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited Engineering Technology courses. Develops syllabi to meet program and school objectives. Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives. Requests and maintains supplies and equipment, and prepares required budget requests. Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate. Prepares and responds to required program documentation and administrative requests. Attends staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences. Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area. Advises students regarding their plan of study and career opportunities.  Assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts for the program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering/Engineering Technology, or Master of Science degree and 18 semester hours in the field from a regionally accredited college or university;

  • Must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the courses assigned.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and professional attire.

  • Ability to interpret and create electrical prints and schematics.

  • Ability to apply math concepts in teaching electrical theorems

  • Ability to teach the importance of safety policies and procedures.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, and juggle multiple & competing priorities.

  • Ability to supervise students in the classroom and lab

  • Ability to develop and evaluate lesson plans.

  • Ability to direct and assess students’ progress in achieving required competencies.

  • Ability to handle administrative responsibilities related to teaching of courses, data collection, and reporting for license agency, accreditation agencies, and the college.

  • Familiar with the use of online teaching platforms such as Backboard or Canvas

  • Familiar with the use of basic electronic test equipment

  • Ability to teach courses online, onsite, or hybrid

  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment

  • Ability to teach courses and instruct hands-on labs areas that include:

    • Prints and schematics

    • AC Circuits

    • DC Circuits

    • Electronics Circuits

    • Power

    • Solid State Devices

    • Digital Systems

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to minimum qualifications and competencies):

  • Three or more years of work experience in a position related to engineering technology;

  • Experience in the electrical utility field

  • Previous teaching experience in a post-secondary environment.

  • Previous online teaching or training experience including the use of video capture tools.
