Pathways Center provides behavioral health, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorder services throughout west-central Georgia. Our multidisciplinary team includes psychiatrists, physicians, nurses, licensed clinicians, direct care professionals, administrative staff, and information technology professionals who work collaboratively to ensure high-quality services for the individuals and communities we serve.

 

The Environmental Services Manager reports to the Vice President of Operations and provides company-wide leadership and day-to-day oversight of Pathways Center's custodial services function. The position leads a team of Custodial Service Associates and is responsible for maintaining clean, welcoming, orderly, and presentable treatment and work environments for patients, clients, employees, visitors, and community partners. The Manager plans and assigns work, monitors service quality, manages staffing and supplies, and coordinates environmental services support for routine operations, special events, and facility-related emergencies.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:


  • Provides direct supervision, training, coaching, scheduling, and day-to-day leadership for a team of Custodial Service Associates
  • Schedules self to assist with cleaning duties at facilities daily (works at different facilities each day of week to assist and provide oversight) Helps to complete deep cleaning tasks and duties.
  • Plans staffing coverage and work schedules to support Pathways Center facilities and operational needs; reviews time worked and time-off requests in accordance with company procedures.
  • Assigns daily, weekly, and periodic custodial duties and establishes work priorities based on facility needs, patient/client activity, special events, and emergent situations.
  • Inspects completed work and treatment/work environments for cleanliness, quality, safety, and adherence to established environmental services standards.
  • Provides regular performance feedback, conducts performance evaluations, and addresses performance or conduct concerns in partnership with Human Resources and the Vice President of Operations.
  • Maintains appropriate inventory levels of cleaning supplies, paper products, and other custodial materials needed for patients/clients, employees, and facility operations.
  • Coordinates custodial support and facility preparation for special events, meetings, high-traffic activities, and other organizational needs.
  • Responds to environmental services needs associated with severe weather, spills, unexpected facility issues, and other emergencies requiring custodial response or rapid preparation.
  • Promotes proper use, storage, and handling of cleaning products, equipment, and supplies and reinforces safe work practices among custodial staff.
  • Communicates facility cleanliness, supply, equipment, or repair concerns to the Vice President of Operations and coordinates with Facilities Maintenance as appropriate.
  • Monitors custodial equipment and reports repair or replacement needs to support reliable and efficient operations.
  • Supports a service-oriented culture by ensuring treatment and employee work environments are welcoming, professional, and ready for daily use.
  • Performs other operational and environmental services duties and special projects as assigned.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout assigned facilities and work areas for extended periods while inspecting environments, supervising work, and responding to operational needs.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb stairs as needed to inspect work areas, demonstrate cleaning methods, access supplies, and assist with environmental services activities.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry supplies, equipment, or materials weighing up to 40 pounds independently; heavier items should be moved with appropriate assistance or material-handling equipment.
  • Ability to push and pull custodial carts, cleaning equipment, waste receptacles, and other materials used in environmental services operations.
  • Ability to safely use and demonstrate the use of common custodial equipment, cleaning tools, and approved cleaning products while following applicable safety procedures and using required personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor areas and tolerate routine exposure to cleaning products, dust, odors, varying temperatures, wet surfaces, and other conditions normally associated with custodial and facility environments.
  • Visual and auditory ability sufficient to inspect work quality, identify safety concerns, communicate with employees, and respond to alarms, instructions, and facility-related conditions.
  • Ability to respond to urgent environmental services or facility needs that may require extended walking, standing, or physical activity beyond routine administrative duties.

 

Working Conditions

This position works in administrative offices, outpatient clinics, crisis stabilization units, residential facilities, and other healthcare settings throughout Pathways Center's service area. The position requires frequent travel and regular interaction with clinical, administrative, and executive staff. The work environment includes standard office settings as well as healthcare and residential treatment environments.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least four years of experience in custodial or environmental services, including experience training, guiding, or leading others.
  • Demonstrated ability to schedule work, assign tasks, inspect work quality, and manage competing facility priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, follow-through, and time management skills.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to urgent or unexpected facility and environmental service needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior formal supervisory or management experience in custodial, environmental services, housekeeping, facilities support, or a related operational setting.
  • Experience supporting healthcare, behavioral healthcare, residential, crisis, or other 24/7 service environments..

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Four (4) years of job-related experience; or two (2) years of experience at the lower level Facility Maintenance Wkr 3 (FES052) or position equivalent.--Note: Some positions may require a valid driver's license.
