Salary - $57,250.00

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) oversees the day-to-day operations of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police, and the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division (CVE). We are seeking a highly organized and professional Executive Administrative Assistant to provide executive-level administrative support to the Human Resources Director.

The Human Resources Division delivers comprehensive human resources services to more than 1,600 employees statewide. This position plays a key role in supporting Human Resources and coordinating a wide range of administrative, operational, and special projects. This position is ideal for a highly organized professional who enjoys anticipating needs and solving problems and working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provides executive level administrative support to the Human Resources Director and administrative support to the other Human Resources Division staff.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of sensitive personnel, payroll, and organizational information while exercising sound judgment and discretion.
  • Reviews and prioritizes incoming correspondence for the Human Resources Director, routes items appropriately, and prepares or coordinates responses as directed.
  • Assists the Human Resources Director with planning, coordinating, and completing routine administrative activities and special projects.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for employees, applicants, and the public by providing courteous, timely, and accurate information and administrative assistance.
  • Addresses employee and customer concerns in a timely, courteous, and professional manner, resolving issues whenever possible and referring matters as appropriate.
  • Prepares, scans, labels, distributes, and maintains documents and electronic files to support departmental operations.
  • Monitors office supply inventory, determines needs, and orders supplies in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Schedules appointments, maintains calendars, coordinates meetings, and assists with meeting preparation and follow-up as needed.
  • Works collaboratively with the Human Resources Director and staff to support efficient office processes and the effective delivery of Human Resources services. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience in the use of the Internet; E-mail; Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access.
  • Successful experience dealing with issues, situations and documents of a sensitive and/or confidential nature.
  • Experience in an office setting with excellent customer service skills.
  • Previous state government experience.
  • Previous experience working in a Human Resources office.
  • Experience with Workday or PeopleSoft.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma/GED and two (2) years of professional-level job-related experience working in an administration-related field.
