Job Summary**
The Literacy Coordinator will lead and manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of literacy programs and services for students at Georgia Piedmont Technical College. This role focuses on enhancing reading, writing, and critical thinking skills to support academic success and workforce readiness.
Job Responsibilities**
* Develop and implement comprehensive literacy programs, workshops, and tutorials tailored to the needs of diverse student populations, including adult learners and those with varying literacy levels.
* Assess student literacy needs through various diagnostic tools and create individualized learning plans or group interventions.
* Recruit, train, and supervise volunteer tutors and peer mentors for literacy support initiatives.
* Collaborate with faculty and staff across academic departments to integrate literacy strategies into course curricula and provide professional development on effective literacy instruction.
* Select, adapt, and create appropriate instructional materials, resources, and technologies to support literacy development.
* Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of literacy programs through data collection, analysis, and reporting, making recommendations for continuous improvement.
* Maintain accurate records of student participation, progress, and program outcomes.
* Promote literacy services to students and the wider college community through various communication channels.
* Stay current with best practices and research in adult literacy education and incorporate new approaches into program design.
* Manage program budgets and resources effectively.
Job Qualifications**
* Degree in Education, Adult Education, English, Reading, or a closely related field.
* Minimum of three (3) years of experience in developing and delivering literacy programs, preferably in a post-secondary or adult education setting.
* Demonstrated expertise in literacy assessment tools and instructional strategies for diverse learners.
* Experience in curriculum development and instructional material design.
* Strong organizational, communication (oral and written), and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.
* Proficiency in using educational technology and learning management systems.
* Experience in program evaluation and data analysis.
* Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
