This is a sensitive government position.
The GBI follows the Federal statute regarding drug use and is a drug-free workplace. Although some locations (domestic and foreign) have legalized recreational drug use, applicants who use or have used drugs or controlled substances will be subject to disqualification from employment with the GBI.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under supervision, professional level finance, accounting and fiscal control functions. Performs and/or oversee financial planning, documentation, analysis, reporting and system development. Verifies the accuracy of information paid, tracks payment activity and resolves inquiries.
Records financial transactions and maintains receivables in WorkDay Financials. Ensures the timely recording of cash receipts received. Research daily receipts and ensure receipts are posted to the correct accounts. Assists with year-end closing processes. Review all GBI and CJCC payments against the supporting documentations. Ensure that special instructions for all payment are carried out. File vouchers electronically in numerical order and maintain the files in an orderly manner. Pull and make copies of documents as needed or requested by external and internal requesters. Use Excel and other Microsoft programs to produce reports. Apply generally accepted accounting principles and follow state and federal guidelines
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Strong verbal, oral and written communication skills.
- This position requires the incumbent to work in an office setting which included shared office space with other employees.
- A valid Georgia driver's license is required. This position may require some travel and operating a state vehicle.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate degree in a related area from an accredited college or university.
AND
One (1) year of job-related experience in accounting, billing, collection systems, or claims; OR one (1) year of professional job-related experience in general accounting, billing, and collection systems and/or claims.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Preference will be given to applicants that, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess any (2) two of the
following:
- Bachelor's degree in a related area from an accredited college or university􀁠
- Experience in processing accounts payable
- Experience using WorkDay Financials
- Experience with Microsoft Excel
