EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Responsible for all facets of the agency vehicle and equipment fleet. Coordinate the assignment, maintenance, and replacement of vehicles and equipment in the fleet program. Manage preventive maintenance program and equipment/vehicle repairs. Oversee the fabrication and RFD shops. Train employees on equipment maintenance and operation. Perform administrative duties which may include budget submissions, purchase authorization and expense tracking. Supervise staff.
Examples of responsibilities:
- Work with agency leadership to develop and implement strategies to meet fleet operational objectives, training requirements, policy changes, fleet process improvement, etc.
- Have a clear understanding of state policies & guidelines set forth in the Georgia Fleet Management Manual.
- Work closely with the administrative staff in purchasing equipment within budget guidelines using grant, state, and bond funds
- Receive new equipment and coordinate with other personnel/departments to outfit vehicles and/or equipment for release to the field. This would include decals, radios, pumps, tanks, etc. and an inspection before releasing to the field. Coordinate the pick-up of new vehicles/equipment and the turn-in of old vehicles/equipment.
- Oversee the state fuel card program (WEX) and the ARI maintenance program. Serve as contact for fuel issues, fuel cards and employee PIN questions, and general inquiries regarding vehicle maintenance. Maintain motor pool vehicles.
- Stay current on equipment/vehicle recalls, vehicle and equipment specifications necessary to meet agency needs, manufacturer changes, and various other job-related information.
- Oversee operations of Fabrication shop to ensure projects are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma/GED AND two (2) years of experience
in the area of assignment, which includes one (1) year in a lead worker, team leader, or supervisory role; OR one (1) year of experience at the lower level Fleet/Motor Pool Spec 3 (FET052) or position equivalent. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs, with high proficiency in Excel. In state travel required as needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of DOAS and agency specific computer software applications that provide for the purchasing and procurement, tracking, operational analysis, and accountability of fleet assets. (Examples: Element, Team Georgia Market Place, Statewide & Agency Purchasing contracts, and Asset Management systems)
· Ability to lead groups of individuals and committees through moderately complex assignments to determine vehicle and equipment needs and specifications.
· Knowledge of manufacturer specifics related to vehicle and equipment capabilities, sizes, options, accessories, and performance expectations.
· Knowledge of heavy equipment operations and maintenance
· Experience in managing or working in metal fabrication and construction
