Job Description:

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Full-Time Accounting Technician position in the Administrative Services division. This position is located at Atlanta Tech's Main campus just south of Downtown Atlanta.    

Under the direct supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Full-Time Accounting Technician will be responsible for performing various paraprofessional accounting duties in support of the financial accounting process. This position will perform Accounts Payable functions for the department and help strengthen and grow relationships with suppliers through timely payment processing.

Duties and responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Process outgoing payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Review invoices for appropriate documentation; verifying, classifying, prior to recording payments.
  • Reconcile the accounts payable by the ledger to ensure that all bills are accounted for and properly posted.
  • Verify and investigate discrepancies, if any, by reconciling supplier accounts and monthly supplier statements.
  • Assist in streamlining and improving the accounts payable process by sending reminders to company end users.
  • Assist senior financial officers with Payable report preparation, check run processing; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Oral and written communication skills

Minimum Qualifications: 

Must possess and demonstrate: a High School Diploma or equivalent AND one (1) year of experience in bookkeeping or accounting clerical work.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference may be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualification, possess and demonstrate the following:

  • Associate degree or higher in a related field
  • Two (2) or more years in bookkeeping or accounting clerical work
  • Experience working with PeopleSoft Financials
  • Intermediate or higher Microsoft Excel skill level
