Job Description:

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Full-Time High School Transition Coordinator position in the Academic & Student Affairs division, High School Initiatives department. This position is located at Atlanta Tech's Main campus just south of Downtown Atlanta.    

Under the direct supervision of the Director of High School Initiatives, the Full-Time High School Transition Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the transition of high school students enrolled in dual enrollment (DE) programs, including Dual Achievement/ATC Preparatory Academy to post-secondary education and Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways. This position assists state, secondary, and post-secondary instructional leadership in the planning and development of career programs of study, including dual, joint, enrollment opportunities to high school students in service delivery area that leads to either an industry recognized credential, post-secondary certificate of credit, diploma or associate’s degree.

Duties and responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Track and monitor all students enrolled in dual-enrollment options and maintain accurate records of student participation and progress in DE programs.
  • Meet with dual-enrollment students in the entire service area, including Dual Achievement/ATC Preparatory Academy students, during their final semester of enrollment to discuss post-secondary options and assist the students in exploring their educational and career interests.
  • Assist high school students interested in connecting with ATC through the GA Match program.
  • Support dual-enrollment students with necessary paperwork and enrollment requirements, facilitating a smooth transition from high school counselors to college advisors.
  • Maintain contact with former dual enrollment students for up to one-year post-enrollment.
  • Provide encouragement and guidance to ensure students enroll in appropriate post-secondary Career and Technical Education {CTE) programs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with college advisors and faculty to enhance transition services.
  • Organize workshops and information sessions about dual enrollment and post-secondary opportunities for students and families.
  • Collect and analyze data related to dual enrollment participation and post-secondary outcomes.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on program effectiveness and student success for school administration.
  • Successfully deliver registration services using a student information system (BANNER) and maintain student records.
  • Exhibit enthusiasm for working with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff; and
  • Performs additional duties, as assigned.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Knowledge of FERPA guidelines with the ability to explain them to others.
  • Knowledge of college’s admission and financial aid guidelines and procedures
  • Knowledge and understanding of how high school and college calendars, registration, graduation requirements and schedules work together
  • Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs
  • Decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in the use of a student information system (BANNER)
  • Microsoft Office 365 (Excel)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess and demonstrate a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university AND two (2) years of directly related work experience.
