Job Description:

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Full-Time Nursing Instructor / Nurse Aide Program Coordinator position in the Health & Public Safety Technology department. This position is located on Atlanta Technical College’s main campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta.

Under general supervision of the Associate Dean of Nursing & Related Programs, the Full-Time Nursing Instructor / Nurse Aide Program Coordinator is responsible for preparing and delivering quality curriculum with daily instruction of Nursing and Nurse Aide students in the classroom & clinical settings.

Duties and responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Demonstrates the use of appropriate teaching techniques.
  • Demonstrates the use of appropriate testing and grading procedures, including proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping requirements.
  • Demonstrates the effective use of oral and written communication skills, and knowledge of current procedures in the Nursing field.
  • Follows approved curriculum standards and course syllabi.
  • Monitors students’ use of supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Advises and counsels students and maintains appropriate advisement records on each student.
  • Maintains classrooms and laboratories in accordance with approved classroom and lab management plans.
  • Serves as the primary contact with the nurse aide program’s clinical partners.
  • Coordinates the nurse aide clinical site rotation, request clinical space, develop the nurse aide clinical schedule to ensure students are credentialed and approved for clinical.
  • Disseminates the clinical schedule to the students in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for creating and ensuring all necessary clinical paperwork is graded.
  • Travels to clinical sites for evaluation purposes.
  • Prepares and submits annual reports and necessary documents to Georgia Nurse Aide Training Program.
  • Attending meetings as required.
  • Observes and enforces the institution’s policies and regulations.
  • Assists with student recruitment and job placement.
  • Serves on committees.
  • Maintains qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) and accreditation standards.
  • Follows rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) and other policies and procedures established by the institution.
  • Assists in the development of reports and other requirements for the Georgia Board of Nursing and program accreditation agencies; and
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must possess and demonstrate the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing. Must be able to provide documentation of progress toward an earned graduate degree in nursing.
  • Three to five (3 – 5) years of documented clinical experience in medical-surgical area.
  • One (1) year of nursing experience as an RN in a long-term care facility (nursing home).
  • Train the Trainer certificate from Alliant Health Solutions or must be completed within one month of hire.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.

Certifications Required:

  • Georgia State Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Good Standing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification by American Heart Association.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference may be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess and demonstrate the following:

  • Doctoral Degree in Nursing or Education (DNP, PhD or EdD).
  • Two (2) or more years of full-time work experience in Medical Surgical and/or Mother/Baby unit.
  • Minimum of one (1) year full-time teaching in an Associate Degree Nursing or Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.
  • One (1) year of nursing experience as an RN in a long-term care facility (nursing home).
