Job Description:

Job Summary:

Responsible for teaching basic skills to students with varying academic levels while integrating GED

skills, reading and mathematics skills, social justice and community issues, and science. Assists

students in setting goals and preparing them to take the GED exam.

Primary duties:

• Assists in the creation of all reports, records, and other paperwork as assigned by the district,

• the Agency, the Georgia Department of Education, and the Federal Government, and other

• paperwork that may be appropriate to the district’s administration.

• Keeps the supervisor informed and works cooperatively with all other staff in school, District,

• and Agency-related matters.

• Maintains a positive, collaborative, and mutually supportive working relationship with

• community agencies, parents, students, and Agency, District, and school staff.

• Instructs students on material needed to earn their GED

• Teaches basic and advanced skills encompassing Mathematical Reasoning, Science, Social

• Studies, and Reasoning Through Language Arts

• Administers various assessments to determine comprehension and progress

• Creates individualized plans and modify accordingly as students’ progress

• Maintains accurate grades for all subjects

• Utilizes various curriculum resources

• Utilizes curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of

• the students served

• Provide instruction to students on an individual basis

• Establishes and communicates clear objectives for all learning activities

• Maintains classroom management through the approved behavior management system

• Continues to grow professionally through research, study, and collaboration with colleagues.

• Performs other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be able to perceive the needs of the Adult Education (GED) program

• Knowledge of school district policies and practices

• Must be organized and responsible for completing daily work duties and assignments

• Demonstrated ability to implement the district’s strategic plan

• Ability to relate to a wide variety of people and to observe

Preferred Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (Required)

• Experience:

• Three (3) years of GED teaching experience - Preferred
