Job Description:

The Georgia Department of Defense is seeking a General Trades Tech 2 - HVAC to work at the 116th
 Air Wing in Warner Robins, Georgia. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced HVAC Technician to install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for commercial facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HVAC systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation: Install new heating, cooling, and ventilation systems in accordance with company standards and local building codes.

  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

  • Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshoot system failures, diagnose issues, and perform necessary repairs or part replacements efficiently.

  • Customer Service: Communicate effectively with customers, explaining complex technical issues in easy-to-understand terms and providing recommendations for system improvements or replacements.

  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, procedures, and OSHA guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all installations, repairs, maintenance, and inventory used on the job.

Preferred Qualifications: 
Preference will be given to those applicants that meet the minimum qualifications, additionally possess: 

  • Valid EPA Section 608 Certification (Type II or Universal).

  • 2 to 3 years of proven experience as an HVAC Technician.

  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, schematics, and local codes.

  • Proficient in reading blueprints and technical manuals.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Physical stamina to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) and work in varying environments (crawl spaces, rooftops, extreme weather).

Selected applicant must meet the following standards: 


1. Must pass a pre-employment background check (which includes criminal records check, driver's history, and verification
 of work history) and a post-hire federal background investigation. 
2. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test and will be placed in the pool for the State Random Drug Testing
 Program. 
3. Eligible to work in the U.S. 
4. Able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED AND Two years of experience in building repairs and maintenance or in the specific area of assignment OR One year of experience at the lower level General Trades Tech 1 (FET030) or position equivalent. Note: Some positions may require area specific certifications/licenses.
